What kind of game is Food Match?

It is a 3D Mahjong-style (tile matching) puzzle game where you remove two identical food picture tiles by connecting them with a path. It features tiles stacked in a pyramid shape across multiple layers.

Can I match tiles located on different layers?

Yes, you can. Unlike flat match games, Food Match allows you to connect tiles placed on different layers as long as the path conditions are met.

Are there restrictions on the tile connection path?

Yes. The path between two tiles can bend a maximum of twice (straight, L-shape, Z-shape, or U-shape). The path must be completely empty with no tiles from any layer blocking it, or the match will not be valid.

What happens if another tile is covering it?

If a tile is directly on the layer above, the tile underneath cannot be selected. You must first remove the upper layer tile to uncover the lower tile for matching.

How do combos work and how do they affect the score?

Every successful consecutive match increases the combo multiplier up to a maximum of 15x. The base score is multiplied by this factor, and completing the next match within 3 seconds adds extra speed bonus points.

What do hints, shuffles, and magic items do?

Hints reveal one currently matchable tile pair. Shuffle rearranges the remaining tiles. Magic items are awarded every 5 combos (e.g., 5, 10, 15, etc., provided the reward hasn't been claimed for that combo count in the current stage) or as level completion rewards. Using them lets you instantly match identical tiles without path restrictions.

What happens if I run out of hints and shuffles?

You start with 5 hints and 3 shuffles, which refill every 3 levels. If you use them all up, you must rely on magic items or carefully observe the remaining tiles to find paths.

What happens if the time runs out?

When the timer reaches 0, the game ends and your final score and reached level are displayed. Starting from Level 3, failed matches also deduct 3 seconds from the timer, so choose carefully!

What changes as the level increases?

The board's column, row, and layer counts expand up to a maximum of 14×9 cells and 4 layers. Tile varieties also increase, alongside changes to time limits and match-failure penalty conditions.

Where are high scores and leaderboards stored?

Both Best Scores and leaderboards are saved in your device's browser local storage (localStorage). They are automatically recorded without requiring login or server connection, and persist even if you restart the game.

Can I play on mobile devices?

Yes, you can play directly in mobile browsers. You select tiles by tapping with your finger. The game is optimized for landscape orientation; holding your device vertically will prompt you to rotate it.

Is any installation or download required?

No. The game runs directly in your web browser without any installation. On mobile devices, you can add a shortcut to your home screen to launch it quickly like an app.

Find Matching Tiles
Look among the stacked tiles on the board for two tiles with the same food picture and tap (click) them in order.

The selected two tiles must be connectable via a path with a maximum of two turns. Tiles on different layers can also be connected.

If another tile is directly covering the top, the bottom tile cannot be selected. Clear the upper tiles first to expose the lower ones.
